Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) has described the latest pictures of large crowds of people in some shopping centers today as “alarming”.
“We currently have a very high level of virological activity in Austria and therefore a high risk. We must therefore do everything possible to massively reduce contacts and reduce the risk. The pictures from last weekend must not be repeated this weekend,” warned Anschober today.
“I appeal to the operators of shopping centers to protect the health of their customers and make appropriate preparations. The operators must ensure that the prescribed maximum number of customers is complied with, that crowds are prevented from gathering and that customer flows are managed,” said Anschober.
Anschober appealed to the customers to “strictly adhere to the applicable rules, such as keeping the minimum distance and wearing a mouth and nose protector. I strongly recommend not to consume food and beverages directly in the shopping center,” he advised in a mailing.
Catering establishments are currently only allowed to offer food from 6:00 to 20:00 hours for collection or delivery; direct consumption on the spot is not permitted.
